Robert Pattinson finds it “bizarre” to be accosted by groups of screaming fans.
The British actor – who plays hunky vampire Edward Cullen in the recent Twilight movie – admits he is still getting used to aspects of his new-found status as an international sex-symbol.
He says, “I was in some street in New York doing something or other and 400 people started charging the street and I thought, ‘If I just stood here, what would happen?’
“I’m certain that some people just like screaming – they keep running past you screaming. It’s so bizarre.”
Asked if he feels any responsibly towards his legions of fans, Rob said, “I’ve pretty much done and said whatever I wanted the whole way through the promotion stuff, so I don’t think I owe anybody anything [laughs].
“Plus I’m playing a vampire. I’m not playing a good school kid. I’m supposed to be bad!”
Pattinson, 22, reprises his role as Cullen alongside Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart in Twilight sequel New Moon, due out later this year.
